Because of a sizeable increase in grant funding for its environmental chemistry/toxicology program, the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory required a new research facility with 28 distinct labs in six categories:
- Trace Element Geochemistry
- Environmental Chemistry
- Marine Organic Chemistry
- Nutrient Chemistry
- Marine Biochemistry
- Environmental Microbiology.
It also has offices, conference rooms, data processing, and common support areas.
