Maryland Institute College of Art
Baltimore
MICA, as the College is known, is a premiere urban arts campus. The renovation of this four-story former Cannon Shoe factory gave it much-needed studios, a gallery, classrooms, and administrative offices.
The project involved gutting the entire structure and installing fixed and flexible partitions. The first two floors are permanent spaces for classes, showcasing works, and staff. The rest of the building is devoted to painting and drawing studios, ceramics, and wood-working shops.
