University of Delaware, Newark
ASG provided complete architectural and engineering services for renovation of this historically significant building on the main campus of the University of Delaware. Prior to the project, the departments of biology and psychology operated in facilities throughout two buildings and shared instructional and research space.
Both departments required additional space and lab upgrades to keep pace with research grants and recruit top faculty members and students. After meeting with the department chairs to understand their visions, the design team found the greatest challenge was appropriate distribution of wet and dry labs.
The strategy for meeting the clients' needs involved floor-by-floor phased renovation of Wolf Hall and a four-story addition for eight wet labs and four instrument rooms.
