Oxford, Ga.

During the master planning process for Emory University's Atlanta campus, ASG was asked to include Oxford College in the scope of work. This division of the University, which is 45 minutes away, is the founding campus and now a two-year liberal arts institution.

The College's historic heritage, natural environment, and intimate scale demanded thoughtful solutions for growth and change. The plan is designed with the understanding that it must preserve the integrity of the historic buildings and protect the natural environment.

Emphasis also was on creation of pedestrian spaces and quadrangles to encourage interpersonal relationships. Proposed changes include a performing arts center, library addition, student center, more student housing, and improvements for classrooms and support functions.

Since completion of this plan, significant implementation has occurred, including the removal of parking in the campus's historic core.
