Salisbury, MD
The College relocated to an unimproved site as its enrollment increased and as it became more involved in the community. It also needed better student facilities.
ASG prepared the College’s previous plan that guided growth over 25 years. The update took into consideration the wetlands and lack of sewers on the new site, which meant limited initial building area. When the location was established, the design team worked with the College to develop a plan for phased construction suitable for a growing institution on the traditional Maryland Eastern Shore.
Using architectural precedents from the University of Virginia, University of North Carolina and Kings College Cambridge, the Wor-Wic campus is symbolically connected to the community by an oval quadrangle fronting the main building. As the campus develops, a small quadrangle and large lawn will organize the remaining buildings.
