Geneva, NY
This campus on the shore of Seneca Lake in New York's Finger Lakes region required a plan for the short- and long-term. ASG prepared a master plan to guide growth and improve the overall facilities. Primary issues were:
- Campus identity. ASG defined opportunities to strengthen the colleges' presence, boundaries, and sense of arrival from all approaches.
- Academic space needs and migration study. The planning team studied where each academic and administrative area stood relative to existing space guidelines and pointed out ways to improve function.
- Building siting. To reinforce or create defined open spaces and strengthen pedestrian links, sites for future buildings were identified. Their placement also preserves the features that make the campus so attractive.
- Relationship to natural setting. The plan strengthens the lake as a campus life amenity by improving connections to the lakefront and encouraging greater use by the campus community.
- Streets and parking. The plan relocates surface parking and improves the pedestrian experience through campus.
Since the completion of the plan, ASG developed feasibility studies for campus-wide housing, performing arts, and an expanded student union. The colleges also built a classroom facility and a residence hall.
