ASG was selected from 22 national firms to design what Daniel P. Jordan, president of The Thomas Jefferson Foundation, calls “the most ambitious building project at Monticello since Thomas Jefferson walked the grounds.” The Foundation’s goal is to remove as many modern intrusions as possible from the Monticello mountaintop while improving the visitor experience. The Visitor and Education Center will be below the house on the site currently occupied by the shuttle bus station and will include exhibits, films, and supplemental services like a gift shop, dining, and classrooms. An administrative building will be on a nearby site.
