Goucher needed to change its athletic facilities when it shifted from an all-women's school to a coed institution. ASG looked at renovation and expansion possibilities taking into consideration the needs and vision of the College. After presenting a number of options, the College decided to add a completely new athletic center adjacent to the existing gymnasium.
The facility provides:
- Main field house with initial seating for 600, with the capacity to double that number
- Main court and two overlaying courts
- Four racquetball and two squash courts with spectator seating
- General, team, and visitor locker rooms for men and women
- Training, weight, and multi-purpose rooms
- Administrative, class, and wellness facilities
- Storage and laundry
The center is designed to be architecturally compatible with the historic Goucher campus.
