Size: 30,000 gsf retail
601 beds housing
25,000 gsf student dining
Cost: $60 million
In conjunction with the campus master plan developed by Ayers/Saint/Gross, Johns Hopkins University identified the need and opportunity to create a mixed-use development in the adjacent Charles Village neighborhood. Hopkins selected the College Town Development Alliance, which includes developers Capstone Development and Streuver Bros. Eccles & Rouse and architects Ayers/Saint/Gross and Design Collective.
The anchor for the project is a 25,000 gsf bookstore with additional retail, a dining facility, and student housing. The development is across a boulevard from the main campus. Students will enter from the street and cross a bridge between two buildings to access the dining hall. Student amenity space is planned for the housing lobby and top floor.
Working in association with Design Collective, Ayers/Saint/Gross was responsible for the master plan, community approval, and the exterior design.
