University Circle Center
Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland
Ayers/Saint/Gross conducted a study for a college town development in University Circle, Cleveland's one-mile hub of education, the arts, health care, religion, research, and service. Case Western Reserve University is a significant partner in the effort to restore and expand the area.
The property Ayers/Saint/Gross studied was an underutilized surface parking lot on the city's historic main street. The design team presented a mixed-use development, primarily with residential units, ground floor retail, and parking. The four- or five-story buildings can redefine the street wall while courtyards between them provide gathering spaces for community events.
