Towson, MD
The site for the new Legg Mason Center is a sloping, odd-shaped lot at
the edge of the central business district, adjacent to an historic church
in Towson, Maryland. Ayers/Saint/Gross developed a "split level" concept for the first floor of the four story structure, allowing additional ground level retail at the low end of the site.
The rear alley side of the building maintains a traditional appearance
and provides access to a drive thru banking facility. The elevations are
interpretations of traditional Maryland colonial and Georgian architecture
and feature brick and cast stone.
