The Campus Plan for UNC Chapel Hill has created a transformative framework for growth. The plan has converted over 20 acres of asphalt to 10 acres of green space and 10 acres for the growth of facilities. The campus has nearly doubled its square footage from 12 million to 20 million GSF while becoming more green and pedestrian-friendly. This plan facilitated the passage of a $3 billion bond bill in the State of North Carolina, which then supported the implementation of over 49 campus projects.
