The University of New Mexico is the state’s largest University, serving more than 32,000 students. To better accommodate these students and address growth, a green-field UNM campus is being planned adjacent to the town of Rio Rancho. The plan uses the urban structure of the town and extends this pattern to form an armature of open spaces, streets and plazas. Designed to accommodate 6.2 million GSF, the plan is based on a framework of open spaces, which will be defined by the incremental addition of buildings.
