History is a strict teacher -- in fact or fiction. As part of its archives, Ayers/Saint/Gross developed a detailed chronology of higher education's progress in the United States. Similar but at the other extreme is the fictitious Paradigm University, developed by our associate Brian Kelly, AIA. Paradigm is an example of how one institution manages to prosper despite decades of challenges, any of which contemporary academic leaders will recognize.
