University of Rochester
Middle Campus Chiller Plant
Rochester , NY

Completion: 2008
Size: 6,200 GSF
Cost: $17,000,000

This new 4,000 ton facility, Phase 1 of the central plant expansion, is currently in the schematic design phase. This new plant will provide a much needed capacity increase to support the prosperous growth on the Medical Center campus. Situated on an existing parking lot adjacent to Kendrick Road, the contemporary brick design will respond to the campus context by incorporating cast stone accents, large expanses of glass, and metal screens. The 6,200 GSF first level contains the chillers and the pumps with the cooling towers located on the roof, screened for acoustical and aesthetic concerns. The project will be constructed using a CM and is budgeted at $17 million. The anticipated completion date is May 2008.
